Rethinking The Church

“Rethinking The Church”

As we begin 2017 and move through this sermon series “Rethinking The Church”, I want to invite you to forget everything you thought you knew about the church.  As we begin a new year let us look forward to what God is going to do through our church at Evergreen, but let us first seek what the church should be.  How is God’s design for a church meant to be?  What are the things we should do at church and as a church?  God has a plan for each and everyone of us and it might look completely different from what we have been doing in the past.

Galatians 3:28 tells us that “there is no Jew or Greek, slave or free, male or female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”  And the church should be one unified body made up of different parts (you and me) serving with the gifts God has given us, under the direction of the head of the body (Jesus Christ).  As long as we do that and in everything we do advance the gospel, then we have a church that is living up to its purpose.

“The church doesn’t have a missions as much as the mission of God has a church.”
